Brazzaville, April 16 (ACI) – The President of the Republic, Mr. Denis Sassou-N’Guesso, unveiled on April 16 at the La Concorde Stadium in Kintélé, a suburban commune in the north of Brazzaville, the priority areas of his five-year term, outlined in his development plan titled “Let’s Accelerate the March Toward Development.”

In his inauguration speech, the Head of State announced a series of measures aimed in particular at mobilizing more public resources, strengthening investment in human capital, and intensifying the fight against misconduct within the administration.

On the economic front, the Congolese president emphasized the revitalization of the national economy, with priority given to agriculture and industrialization, in order to promote large-scale job creation.
He also stressed the continued development of basic infrastructure, the promotion of scientific research and technological innovation, as well as the strengthening of social rights and environmental protection.

Addressing the issue of sub-regional integration, Mr. Sassou-N’Guesso highlighted Congo’s ambition to become a transit country in Central Africa. In this regard, he mentioned several major projects such as the Ouesso–Impfondo–Gouga corridor toward the Central African border, the construction of a road-rail bridge between Brazzaville and Kinshasa, and the modernization of the Congo-Ocean railway.
According to him, these infrastructures will help position the country as a commercial and tourism hub, in line with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

He also announced the effective implementation of special economic zones, the sanitation of major cities through modern methods, and the modernization of urban transport in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire.

In the energy sector, the Head of State reaffirmed Congo’s commitment to contributing to continental goals for access to electricity, in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the initiative to electrify 300 million Africans by 2030. Improving access to drinking water through groundwater extraction is also among these priorities.

Regarding education and employment, he emphasized adapting universities to new technologies, including artificial intelligence, as well as creating opportunities for young people and women, particularly in the agricultural sector, whose dynamism was highlighted by the 2026 agricultural fair.

The development of tourism through ecotourism in national parks, along with the revitalization of sports and leisure, were presented as complementary drivers to support growth and strengthen social cohesion.

Re-elected with 94.90% of the votes cast following the presidential elections of March 12 and 15, the President of the Republic aims, through his development program, to usher in a new phase of accelerated development in Congo during this new five-year term.

The ceremony was attended by about ten sitting heads of state from across Africa, along with governments and representatives from African, Asian, European, and American states.
