Mali - 9th Pan-African Congress: Bamako hosts the Regional Conference for West Africa


As part of the preparations for the 9th Pan-African Congress, the Republic of Mali is granted the privilege of hosting one of the six planned regional conferences, in accordance with the 2021 – 2031 Agenda of “the decade of African roots and Africa Diaspora”. This regional conference for West Africa will be held on March 14 and 15, 2024 at the Hôtel de l'Amitié, in Bamako. 

During these two days, the Malian capital will be the scene of intense exchanges, bringing together around a hundred participants from various backgrounds. Among them, ministers, personalities from the diaspora and communities of African descent, eminent specialists in migration and development, economists, communicators, academics, researchers, historians, and Pan-Africans will reflect on THEcaptivating theme of “Diasporas, African descendants and development”. 

The objective of this conference is to formulate relevant recommendations aimed at promoting the increased involvement of African diasporas and African descendants in the development of the continent, as well as strengthening the links between diasporas, African descendants and theirmother Earth. 

This major meeting will be accessible to the public through a live broadcast on the Facebook page and the various digital platforms of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, thus allowing remote participation and a broader reach. of these crucial discussions for the future of Africa. 

The Regional Conference for West Africa constitutes a significant step in the preparatory process for the 9th Pan-African Congress, offering a unique opportunity for collective reflection and concerted action for a prosperous and united future for the African continent and its diaspora.
